Wings Courier Service and its owner Mr. Warner, can simply be a major rip off. Warner has a special record of ripping off merchants who make the mistake of having him broker their goods into Antigua.

One merchant told of Warner’s tricks hiring a truck to take goods from the harbor and deliver to the retailer. Although he may pay $100 xcd to the contractor, he will in turn bill his client $600 xcd, and then brow beat them into paying his bill. His charges for services are often no where near competitive. He extracts as much as possible from clients until he looses them. Few local business people with experience deal with Wings. New merchants, and whites from out of country are his main prey!

Just a word of caution here, beware of Wings and Mr. Warner. Use alternatives when you can. This applies to his U.S. postal box service as well! His billing for “extra” charges and services is nothing short of stealing! Yes, the word for his behavior is “thief”.

Why no one tells the truth about this incompetent and dangerous person!

With practice, I learned I can tell more about a person by quiet presence, close attention, and physical observation, than by their words alone. Take a good look at this person and you may see the truth.

My read: Anger, nastiness, needs sexual relief, has bad breath, poor bodily development considering her heritage, dresses and acts sexist, arrogance, one of the boys, believes her own thinking, needs acceptance and a social climber who is never satisfied. Is not happy – ever! Does not know what fun is.

Condoleezza Rice was in charge of America’s national security prior to 9/11. Her job was to know about security threats to the United States of America, advise the administration of same, and recommend actions to prevent attacks on the country. As in her employment history, she is no record setter in terms of efficiency or competence. BOOM!

If Rice had this job in China, they would have hanged her for incompetence. If she had this job in Japan, she would have committed suicide by sword, or resigned in disgrace. In America she was promoted to head of the Department of State, perhaps the most important position in the Administration next to President.

Her new job is to represent the United States around the world. To interact with the worlds heads of state. Additionally she is a primary mover in the direction taken by the U.S. foreign policy. No wonder the U.S. is not respected or even liked by most of the people of the world today! Is this the best you can muster?

The Antiguan Customs department may not have one honest Customs Agent! Bribery is rampant and has been for many years. And sadly, everyone knows it! Putting $100 xcd in a pile of documents before handing them to the agent works well for some Syrian businessmen in St. Johns according to one eye witness.

Last I heard Mr. Brown was in charge of Customs. He like many other Antiguan men who reached positions of power, likes to make special arrangements for women who he takes a fancy to. He promises them personal help in getting their refund due from the government for Customs overcharges. My understanding is you never get one dime returned, and Mr. Brown may have ulterior (or maybe its posterior) motives.

The system at deep water harbor is so chaotic and dysfunctional, it is often impossible to get shorted items without paying for the entire manifest twice. Business owners go through a maze of bureaucracy to get a shipment in, and are subject to abuse of power by the officers who work there. An honest business person may find it impossible to continue to do business without capitulating to the corrupt culture at the harbor!

Not only do Antiguans pay a premium for imported goods because of the “extra”duty going in corrupt officers pockets, they pay increased prices because an officer can set item value on a whim.

One such case involved the importation of “close out” cell phone cases with a wholesale cost of 50 cents U.S.. Those cases went to the public the first time around for $5 ec. This covered import duties and shipping costs and provided a small profit. The next shipment of cases arrived and the customs officer refused to allow them to be valued at the documented cost! His explanation was, “that is too cheap”. After the merchant paid the “new” duty based now on a wholesale cost of $2 U.S. (the value set arbitrarily by the officer), and all his costs, he ended up scraping the cases at a loss. Antiguans are denied the benefit of bargains because their own Customs Agency has a history of inflating prices at will!

The routine of Customs corruption is known by most all Antiguans. Yet nothing is done, nor has been done, to eliminate it. Although a simple undercover operation carried out by Scotland Yard, or an outside agency available for exactly this type of law enforcement work, could easily provide many names of corrupt officers, it does not happen! I challenge someone in power to do undercover “sting” at the deep water harbor! If five or more Officers are not found to be taking bribes I will make a full apology to the entire department!

And what about the Ministry Customs falls under? Widespread corruption continues and the Ministry does nothing! Why?

One answer may be the same as the answer to the question about prosecution in the case of the Medical Benefits Scheme. I am not aware one person going to jail after a massive scandel involving many well know Antiguans. Hundreds of thousands of government dollars were misused, misdirected, and simply stolen from the Medical Scheme! It took the action of an honest American doctor to put light on that case and the corrupt locals in charge!

Antiguans seem to be big on complaining about the other guy who was in power, but when it comes to action, and prosecution, apparently they fear what goes around comes around. No one goes to jail! No one is indicted! The practice of using one’s power for personal aggrandizement. or plain illicit gain, is just accepted by the people of this nation! Acceptance seems to be the answer!

It is near impossible to operate a legitimate business in Antigua, if it depends on importing goods for resale through the harbor bureaucracy and corrupt officers. How can a legitimate retailer compete with those who have learned to make pay offs to get their goods through? In addition, legitimate retailers report massive losses of the goods stored at the harbor waiting for customs clearance! Boxes and their contents just disappear.

This story will come as no surprise to most Antiguan residents. That is the real shame of it all. It is like an elephant in the room and no one is talking about it. It’s time to put some light on Antiguan Customs officers, their respective leaders, and the elected Ministers in charge!

Big Oil Poised To Do Business With Iraq

Royal Dutch Shell, Chevron, Exxon Mobil And BP Could See Advantage Over Others In The Future

These are no bid contracts with firms who were kicked out by Saddam Hussein. The other 50 or so companies which have been helping the Iraqis during reconstruction, and which had similar agreements, are not going to share in the oil revenues. The other companies mostly based in Russia, France, or other countries which were not part of the war monger coalition led by the U.S. and Brittan.

Additional untapped fields in Iraq may offer up even more substantial profits in the future for these selected oil companies, who are today benefiting from world fears, regional destabilization, and self induced shortages in supply. Although these same companies hold thousands of acres of land with proven reserves of oil in North America, they have not invested in drilling, nor increasing production on existing leases. Rather they are pushing and underwriting the Bush Administration to open lands heretofore protected for environmental reasons.

This is the final card linking Bush (including family oil interests), Chaney, Haliburton, Exxon, Shell, Chevron, BP, the military complex, and a substantial number of lessor oil players, including the Bin Laudens, to the invasion of the sovergn nation of Iraq.

The big payoff continues for some like Haliburton, and is just beginning for the primary movers, big oil!

Easy huh? What next? And the people who support and backed the invasion, the Americans, continue in their blindness! Dead and maimed American stooges (the uneducated and poor who did not know better than to enlist), pawns in the game, hundreds of thousands of injured or dead Iraqis, including women and children, three million displaced Iraqis, oil at $144 a barrel, the world paying the price for this war in every commodity they buy, starvation, world food shortages, and a falling dollar with no bottom in site!

George Bush has just asked the U.S. Congress to lift existing limits on drilling in critical areas off shore and in the Arctic.

His argument is Democrats, Environmentalists, and those who opposed rapid expansion of oil leases, have created the high price of oil by allowing unstable and unfriendly regimes around the world to control the oil supply.

This takes the cake! Any half wit knows those regimes were not unfriendly nor unstable before the Bush Administration went to war and began “ruling the world” with the “my way, or the highway” mentality!

Apple offers a rebate of $100 when you purchase a i Mac and a Canon printer. I recently bought a new i Mac and the Cannon printer, but received no rebate as promised. Apple tells lies!

I found the process to obtain the rebate a series of HOOPS one jumps through, with the bone at the end ($100). And although I read a number of warnings like this one online, prior to purchase, I jumped through a number of the HOOPS before giving up on my “bone”.

HOOP #1
Filled out online form with all the blanks completed, including serial and proof of purchase.

HOOP #2
Submitted a tear off portion from the boxes, with proof of purchase numbers, and mailed them as directed to the rebate center along with another form.

Hoop #3
Received a letter from the rebate center with new forms to fill out, giving identical information. I complied. No rebate.

HOOP #4
When no rebate appeared, I emailed the rebate center with my information.

HOOP #5 Received a call from a nice lady at the rebate center who said who said she would pass the problem on to Apple. A moron named Mr. Applewhite (wouldn’t you know), called me and said he was a Corporate Executive Relations Manager, and he would research my problem and help me.

In time, Applepolisher (a more appropriate name) called and said he had gone over all my transaction records, and all the information was received, however they would need me to mail the proof of purchase number from the box again, and it must be received in a couple of days because the “deadline” was approaching. I was overseas, and with the proof of purchase in my hand, asked Mr. Applewhite what good that would do, since the numbers and information I submitted would be the same as on the actual box stub #2 I was holding? He mumbled something unintelligible (referred to Apple script dealing with customers who do not cave in to senseless requests) and said, “this is the only way to get your rebate”.

Jesus H Christ! You got to wonder a company like Apple cannot empower someone like Applewhite (or maybe someone with a brain), to make a decision and give me my rebate! I was not willing to go through another HOOP to get my bone. The mail would not reach America in time. I told Mr. Applewhite I did not appreciate Apple lying to me. He said “Apple does not lie”. I said they either give me the rebate as promised, or they don’t. And if they don’t, after I have followed all the procedures, they are lying! He then told me that they were not obligated unless I followed Apple’s Terms and Conditions! (This also comes out of the corporate book of speak as a cover all, which only the “Dream Team” of lawyers can refute). I told this bozo he could stick the terms and conditions up his *@%^&. For some reason the poor man terminated our conversation. I did not get my bone! Poor me, $100 U.S. dollars shorted, now I can’t buy a cup of coffee!

Apple has gone the way of Dell, focusing on the bottom line and the short term. Dell moved its service off shore, to foreign call centers, where little is accomplished in terms of customer service, except pissing people off. Apple is on the identical course, with short term thinking and a long term disaster sure to follow. I wondered how the Apple company I knew 20 years ago could hire an idiot who was so removed from planet earth, like Mr. Applewhite. Maybe it was his name? Then I remembered they put Steve Jobs in a closet for an office, when they tried to get him to quit years ago. Maybe this job they gave Applewhite was about the worst thing they could do to him?

So Apple lies. Would I buy another Apple product? NO! Is the computer any good? Yes. Does it have drawbacks, yes, just as the PC does. The printer is excellent.

I recently purchased a new digital camera. I did not buy a Canon, although they had the best reviews.

I am using the power of light informing others, and a personal boycott against Canon and Apple, who lie and promote a culture which says its OK not to keep our word. The bottom line is more important than being a good Corporate Citizen, and setting an example for all others. If you support half truths and deceptive practices, continue to buy Apple and Canon products. If truth is a word you still understand as a worthwhile value, buy other brands.
